What you would have to prove is that he did actually lie. He may have said to the landlord that he was going to wholesale beans, and he may have totally meant that. He may have moved in and seen the opportunity to expand his business. In these hard times we all have to do everything in our power to protect our business and the people who work for us. The only way Tesco got so big is by adapting what they do to match the market opportunities. As I impled in my earlier post – stop getting hung up on what other people are doing, and concentrate on what YOU can do to make your business as successful a possible. Maybe you could start selling wholesale beans? There are dozens of opportunities available. Make your biggest seller 10p less than his – but put 20p on all the other lines. Offer free wifi, free newspapers, set up a ‘coffee club’. Offer everything your competitor does, but better.
