Black coffee, black espresso, straight tea. Who drinks these?
I was sitting with a bunch of friends and noticed: 1. No one orders black coffee anymore. Waitresses have to ask people if they want coffee with that cream. 2. Out of all the times I have been to Starbucks, I am the only one I have ever heard of that orders strait espresso. Motorcyclists and hardcore druggies all order the “Cute” frapichinos with a hint of peppermint. 3. No one drinks strait tea for crying out loud!!! It is tea, not even that strong, and people ruin the flavor of their tea with yes, god forbid, sugar and milk. Please tell me if I am that weird or there are some people who actually like coffee, espresso, or tea; not milk and sugar.

I’ve always drunk black coffee, usually with a little bit of sugar. I like strong black coffee, I don’t have milk or cream, and rarely drink tea. I wouldn’t say you are weird in the slightest, and there are lots of people who drink espresso, black tea and black coffee without milk/cream. I would say that most people who drink espresso on it’s own are more serious about their coffee, and make it themselves, or have a particular coffee shop where they make it a certain way.
In the UK and US there is a trend for frappuccinos and different kinds of milk-based coffee drinks (with an espresso) and whilst consumers continue to demand it, the coffee shops will continue to focus on supplying that trend.
I am entirely with you as a drinker of black coffee and espresso, and a credit to you for demanding the best quality coffee.
